Wahab calls for end to road blockades, urges KP govt to resolve Parachinar issue

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab condemned the practice of blocking roads during the ongoing protests, calling it an inappropriate approach to addressing grievances.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Wahab urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to address the situation in Parachinar directly, instead of allowing the disruption to spread to other cities.

“It is not appropriate to block roads under the pretext of protests. “No matter what happens in the country, protests in Karachi always lead to city-wide lockdowns,” he said.

Wahab revealed that he had informed Sindh Minister Nasir Hussain Shah about the ongoing unrest caused by the protests.

“He assured me that work is being done to resolve the problem and I am hopeful that it will be resolved today,” the mayor added.

Traffic chaos across the city due to protests by religious parties

Meanwhile, Karachi’s traffic flow has been severely affected as a religious party continues sit-ins at 12 key locations in the city to protest in response to the recent Parachinar incident.

Major arteries of Karachi including Numaish Chowrangi, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Malir 15, Gulimaar, Power House Chowrangi and Abul Hassan Isphahani Road remain congested due to blockages. Other areas like Five Star Chowrangi, Surjani Town, Incholi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar near Kamran Chowrangi and parts of the National Highway near Steel Town are also facing major disruptions.

The protests have left commuters stranded and city operations disrupted, highlighting the widespread impact of these demonstrations on daily life in Karachi.
