WAPDA irregularities put at the Care Center


Islamabad:

The head of a Senate panel has indicated that some audit stops with respect to the Water and Energy Development Authority (WAPDA) have been pending since 1985, while the Ministry of Water and Energy has no record in some cases.

The Permanent Committee of the Senate on Water Resources met on Thursday under the presidency of Senator Shahadat Awan to receive information on the consultations made by the Ministry about the recommendations of the Departmental Accounts Committee (DAC) and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) In the audit of Wapda.

Wapda officials informed the committee that 56 consultations were made about the PAC recommendations, of which 43 have been completed, 10 are in progress and that the remaining three are being investigated by the National Responsibility Office.

They said that 381 consultations on DAC recommendations began, of which 308 have been completed and 67 are pending.

Senator Shahadat Awan pointed out that 187 audit stops have been pending.
