Washington: The United States National Security Department is considering a television reality show where immigrants compete for US citizenship.

The authorities say they are reviewing the idea, but that they have not yet made a final decision. The proposed program would present challenges destined to prove the knowledge and skills of the contestants, with a person eliminated in each episode.

The plan has caused the debate in the midst of continuous changes in immigration policy.

When asked about the idea reported, the DHS responded with a statement by saying that the launch “did not receive the approval or rejection of the staff” and that “each proposal is submitted to an exhaustive investigation process before denial or approval.”

“We need to revive patriotism and civic duty in this country, and we are happy to review the releases ready to use,” said Public Affairs Secretary, Tricia McLaughlin, in the statement.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the proposed show, proposed by Rob Worsoff Canadian-American, would see the contestants face to prove that they are the most Americans.

“This is not ‘Hunger games’ for immigrants,” said the newspaper citing Worsoff, a reference to a dystopian novel and a later film about children forced to kill each other in a competition televised by survival.

“This is not, ‘Hey, if you lose, we are sending you in a boat out of the country,” he said.

The Journal checked a 3 3 -page slide deck of the Worsoff team that describes the proposed program, which would make the contestants compete in episodes of one hour.

This could include a Gold Rush challenge where contestants recover the most precious metal of a mine or competition where teams work together to gather the chassis of an T car, according to the newspaper.

The program would begin with an arrival on Ellis Island, the traditional point of entry for immigrants to the United States, and see a contestant eliminated by episode.

The news occurs when the administration of the former television president of Reality Donald Trump has moved to end the temporary state (TPS) for several immigrants who had protected from deportation.

Federal Law allows the Government to grant TPS to foreign citizens who cannot return to home safely due to war, natural disasters or other “extraordinary” conditions.

Since he assumed the position, Trump has tried to strip the TPS protections of citizens from countries such as Afghanistan, Haiti and Venezuela as part of his broader offensive against immigration.

This repression, led by DHS, has included immigration raids, arrests and deportations.
