“We will never build a back door” -Apple kills its end-to-end encryption function of Icloud in the United Kingdom

  • Apple has announced that it will withdraw its advanced data protection function from the United Kingdom
  • The decision occurs after the United Kingdom Government requested an encryption back door
  • New users will not be able to access the function, with existing users who lose functionality in the future

As of today, on February 21, 2025, people in the United Kingdom will not be able to use the advanced end -to -end encryption protection of Apple Icloud.

Apple had to kill its advanced data protection function (ADP) in the United Kingdom after being beaten by an entry into the encryption under the 2016 investigation powers. The application seeks to allow the police to evaluate the data of users, regardless of whether they are encrypted.
