- Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro: on the surface, a mouse
- Two wireless headphones are hidden under the hood.
- The mouse itself features “long-lasting cool” for comfortable all-day use.
Once upon a time there was a cute little house mouse who saw a piece of cheese and nibbled on it. Unfortunately, the owner had left an AirPod in the cheese morceauand the rodent also ate it. For the rest of his life, every time he ran by, the owner of the house heard fragments of Float of the modest boy.
The moral of the story is “don’t give headphones to a mouse,” but Honor apparently hadn’t heard this unwritten (and, as far as we know, unspoken) rule (*note: don’t give any technology to any animal, including yourself), because its modest new productivity kit hides an unusual audio extra.
I’m referring to the Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro, launched in China at the end of 2025 (sorry) and now available in other parts of the world. They cost £79.99 in the UK, which converts to around $100 (although Honor doesn’t currently sell its kit in the US) or AU$160 (but they’re not listed on Honor’s Australian website).

On the surface, it looks like a simple wireless mouse. Soft, even, though it features an excimer “skin-like coating,” quiet buttons, and “long-lasting coolness” on the case, but still… it’s practically just a mouse.
However, if you open the body of the said mouse, you will be surprised to find two wireless headphones located inside.
Impeccably clean headphones
The Honor Choice MouseBuds Pro earbuds are open-style, with no removable tip to keep them in place, and the company’s listing doesn’t offer much information about them: no driver, frequency response, impedance. They apparently have ANC and dynamic drivers, but that’s all the website says.
The target audience for this type of kit is probably office workers, who will need to make a private call at any time, and users will find some easily accessible headphones that are already paired, making them quite useful. Think about the extra work you can do in the seconds you will save: think about productivity, efficiency and time optimization!
I imagine it will also be a popular product for people who work in a coffee shop or cafe, who want to listen to a voice memo or join a meeting without digging in their bag for their actual headphones (although don’t join work meetings in public cafes: it’s so annoying to the rest of us around you).
Apparently the entire package (mouse and buttons) lasts for 30 days of use, although it’s unclear how many hours of listening that plays into it.
This isn’t the first hidden earbud technology we’ve seen. My mind goes to the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio, a basic phone that comes with pre-paired headphones that you can easily use to listen to a tune. From what I heard, these headphones didn’t sound particularly good, but sure, some Using hearing aids is better than not having hearing aids at the time you need them.
Unfortunately, I’m not an expert on which mouse is the best, so I can’t tell you if this is a little gem with a hidden secret or a strange novelty. But I do check the headphones.
I hate to be a pessimist, after all, Honor makes some fantastic headphones (just look at the Honor Earbuds Open for starters), but I’m worried that these headphones don’t sound particularly good. The mouse isn’t a glorified charging case for some top-tier headphones; the mouse is the point (with the headphones as a secondary extra). So buy them if you need a 2-in-1 hybrid mouse with headphones, but don’t buy them if you just want the best headphones in an alternative case.
