‘When it needs to turn, it spins the wheels and walks like a crab’: Segway Navimow executive reveals invention that means its new flagship lawn robot won’t churn grass

There were plenty of impressive lawnbots on display at CES 2026, but Segway’s new flagship Navimow has a trick I didn’t see anywhere else. It all has to do with how it handles tight corners, and I had the chance to quiz a brand executive on how exactly it all works.

I spoke with Tony Ho, vice president of business development at Segway Navimow, and he told me that some other lawn robots had a tendency to agitate the grass when turning (a common requirement, since most lawn robots these days mow in straight, parallel lines, rotating at the top of each row).
