Amanda Anisimova surprised the world of tennis when he bothered No. 1 of the world Aryna Sabalenka in three exhausting sets to advance to the Wimbledon final on Thursday.
The 23 -year -old will seek to become the first American to win Wimbledon since Serena Williams won in 2016. Anisimova will face IgA Swiatk in the Wimbledon final on Saturday.

Youth and education
Amanda Anisimova is the daughter of Konstantin and Olga Anisimova. The couple emigrated from Russia to the United States in 1998. He was born in New Jersey, but his family moved to Miami, Florida, when he was 3 years old.
Anisimova’s father presented her to tennis when she was 5 years old and became her coach. His tennis idols grew were Williams and Maria Sharapova.
In 2019, while preparing for the United States Open, his father died at age 52 due to a heart attack. Anisimova retired from the tournament while dealing with sudden loss.
“It was the worst thing that happened to me, it was very difficult,” said Anisimova, according to the sun. “But you can’t change it, and you have to go back to life.”

The adolescent prodigy
Anisimova broke into the scene when he reached the final of the Roland Garros 2016 girls with only 14 years. That same year, he reached an ITF ranking of his number 2 career in the world. The following year, he defeated Coco Gounds for the title UPEN Junior 2017, where he did not drop a set during the tournament.
Anisimova won five titles in his Junior career.
The native of New Jersey made his debut on the WTA tour at the Miami Open 2017 at age 15 when he was granted a wild card in the main raffle. He made his debut in Grand Slam at the France Open only a few months later, becoming the youngest player to participate in the main raffle of the France Open since 2005, when Alize Cornet did it.

WTA race
His first game on the WTA tour arrived in Indian Wells in 2018, where he reached the fourth round before losing to Karolina Pliskova. Anisimova’s first WTA title arrived at the Claro Open Colsanitas in Bogotá in 2019.
“I am very happy and proud of myself for how I overcome them, and winning my first WTA title means a lot,” said Anisimova after the game, according to the WTA website.
Anisimova continued his strong game at the 2019 France Open while reaching the semifinal. She defeated Harmony Tan, Sabalenka and Simona Halep before losing to Ashleight Barty in three sets.
Anisimova won his second WTA title in Melbourne’s summer set in early 2022, after mixed results during the Covid 2020 and 2021 season.

Moving away from the game
In May 2023, Anisimova, 21, announced that he was moving away from the tennis game, citing concerns about his mental health. She wrote in an Instagram post that had been fighting “mental health and exhaustion since the summer of 2022”.
“It has become unbearable in tennis tournaments. At this point, my priority is my mental well -being and take a break for some time,” he wrote in his publication.
At the time he moved away, he held the 46th place in the world.
Anisimova returned to play in January 2024 at Asb Classic, as it took eight months of the game. Upon returning, Anisimova played some of his best tennis when he won his first WTA 1000 title in 2025 Qatar Open.
After advancing to the Wimbledon final, he said after the game that “he would not believe” that he had achieved it.

“To be honest, if you had told me that I would be in the final in Wimbledon, I wouldn’t believe you. At least not this soon,” said Anisimova after his annoying victory over Sabalenka.
“A change of the year has passed since he returned and, to be in this place, it is not easy and many people dream of competing in this incredible court. It has been a privilege to compete here, and being in the final is indescribable.”
Anisimova will have the opportunity to compete once again at the All England Club at Center Court on Saturday in the Wimbledon final, where Swiatek will play.
