- Wiim announces 3 new audio transmission products
- Wiim Sound is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker
- Wiim Sub Pro subwoofer and AMP Ultra AMP was also revealed
Wiim has just announced that he is doing his first speakers. The company has previously launched a range of well -received devices and music broadcasts, and had been associated with Audio Pro in versions enabled for Wiim of the speakers of that company, but these are its first speakers made to themselves.
It is presenting a wireless speaker called Wiim Sound, and a subwoofer called Wiim Sub Pro, in addition to a powerful transmission amplifier called Wiim Amp Ultra.
The Wiim sound looks like a competitor of the Sonos Age, and presents a similar speakers configuration, packing on two tweeters and a four -inch woofer, and promising 100W total speaker power.
This is not a big surprise: since the launch of the disastrous application of Sonos last year, Wiim has taken advantage of the situation and throwing himself as the apparent heir to people who want multiple rooms and no longer trust Sonos.
But that was difficult to do when Wiim only made amplifiers and accessories: the simplicity of having a speaker that manages everything is key to the popularity of Sonos. This could be the final step.
The Wiim sound is a size very similar to the Era 100 of Sonos at 5.7×5.7×7.5 inches (146x146x193 mm), and has tactile controls at the top to play/pause and omit clues, again as an era of sound 100 or most of the best wireless speakers.
But it has a good design feature that Sonos does not have: a great circular touch screen in the front, which can show works of art, show what comes in the tail, show VU retro meters and control reproduction.
There is a room correction for sound, and the high audio audio transmission supports up to 24 bits/192 kHz.
The Wiim application provides multiple room support, and you use it to transmit the audio to the sound from more than 20 different music services, including the tastes of Qobuz, Amazon, Tidal and Spotify. You can also transmit it from other applications using Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect or DLNA.
You can notice a name and feature that I have said so far: Apple Music and AirPlay 2. This is basically the only important wireless speaker that does not have incorporated AirPlay 2, and Apple Music is not compatible with the Wiim Home application.
This will be a real blow to many people who use Apple’s ecosystem, and puts Wiim at a great disadvantage about Sonos for them. However, here is a bluetooth support to transmit it from almost anything.
It has the ability to match two Wiim sound speakers in a stereo configuration, or it can even function as part of a 5.1 -channel wireless manager system, if you use the HDMI connection of an AMP Wiim. I will be interested in digging more in this in the future.
You may see that Wiim refers to this as an intelligent speaker, but I would not classify it in that way: it can be controlled by Alexa or Google Assistant, but does not have these services incorporated with Mic. You should use another device to activate them, such as an echo point.
The other obvious characteristic here is a line port: this is not mentioned in Wiim’s information. A good characteristic of the current Sonos speakers is that you can connect one of the best headdresses directly on them and obtain instant support from several rooms for vinyl. But you will need one of the other Wiim transmission accessories for that.
However, there is another trap to get excited about the lack of Apple support: the price or lack of it. We do not know what will be closer to its release, which is said to be in the “third quarter of 2025”, so somewhere between July and September. I suspect that this will be more expensive than the Era of Sonos given the addition of the touch screen, but we will discover it later.
Subtitulate
The Wiim Sub Pro is a subwoofer with 250W of class D amplification, and can work wirelessly with Wiim products, or connected to anything with a rise through RCA.
There is an eight -inch controller, and it is a rather compact submarine at 15.7×11.8×12.7 inches, but it still will not be so easy to hide.
Because it is designed to basically match any speaker you want, whether Wiim or not, there are detailed settings for cross adjustment within the Wiim application, as well as equalization options and the correction of the room.
Once again, there is no price, but again it is aligned for a launch of the third quarter.
Ampitating
Wiim also announced a large and powerful broad transmission, called Wiim Amp Ultra. It is capable of 200W of power per channel at 4 ohms, or 100W per channel at 8 ohms. As a result, it has connections for four speakers, which makes it pleasant and flexible.
When it comes to tickets, it has all Wiim transmission powers, including all the main music transmission services and casting options, again, with the exception of Apple’s services. The transmission of Hi-RES is compatible with up to 24 bits/192 kHz, however, the ES9039Q2M Knowing Dac Inside is capable of decoding up to 32 bits/384khz.
There are USB and Ethernet ports for these higher quality files, and there is an RCA entrance, in addition to an HDMI arc port to use it for home film sound.
There is also a touch screen on the front for beautiful works of art and direct reproduction control, in addition to a volume dial, as expected from any powerful amplifier that is respected.
And once again, there is still no price, and the launch is promised in the third quarter.
