Wild life officials have intensified their repression against illegal bird vendors under the leadership of the Wildlife Deputy Director of the Lahore region, Dr. Ghulam Rasool Awan.
During the operation, two more bird vendors were arrested within the limits of the city of Lahore, and hundreds of birds were rescued from their possession. This brings the total number of arrests in the last 24 hours to four.
The arrested individuals were found hunting and selling native harmless birds such as sparrows, Robins and Wagtails, an activity that contributes to the danger of these species.
The Wildlife Department has appealed to the public to avoid buying birds from such vendors to help save these innocent creatures. In addition, citizens are encouraged to inform any bird seller sharing their location with the Lahore Wildlife Department through WhatsApp.
The department has provided a dedicated WhatsApp number, 03324108449, for this purpose. The authorities have urged the public to fulfill their responsibility and support this initiative to guarantee the preservation of local bird species.
Meanwhile, Youtuber Rajab Butt received his sentence for maintaining a lion puppy. A wildlife officer had filed a complaint with a local judicial magistrate in Lahore, against Rajab, who had admitted to keep the puppy in violation of the laws.
The personality of the social networks was arrested from his residence in Lahore after a raid made jointly by the Department of Wildlife of Punjab and the month of the Last Police.
According to the Court’s decision, Rajab Butt must provide community service under the supervision of a probation officer for a year. As part of your service, Butt will create Vlogs discussing the rights of animals.
These Vlogs will be loaded monthly after receiving the approval of the probation officer, focusing on the protection and rights of animals. The court also instructed the Silvestre department to provide Rajab Butt with all the materials related to animal protection.
It was also emphasized that Rajab must attend the hearings if the probation officer convened. If the courts of the Court are not followed, a report will be submitted to the Court.
