The first moon full of spring, known as Pink Moon, will rise on Friday, April 12, 2025, offering a spectacular view in North America and beyond.
Although in reality it will not appear pink, the name of the moon comes from the Pink Phlox flowers that bloom at the beginning of spring, indicating the arrival of the season.
The full moon will reach its peak at 8:23 pm EDT on Saturday, April 12.
It will rise in the eastern sky only one hour before the full moon peak in some regions, which makes this a rare fact.
The best time to see the pink moon will be during its increase, just after sunset, when it seems bigger and more vibrant due to a phenomenon called “illusion of the moon.” This optical illusion makes the moon look bigger and brighter as it rises on the horizon.
For those in East of North America, including New York and Los Angeles, the Moon will rise near sunset. In New York, Sunset is at 7:32 PM EDT, with Luna at 7:31 PM EDT.
In Los Angeles, the sunset will occur at 7:22 PM PDT, and the Moon will rise at 7:26 PM PDT. Meanwhile, in London, the Moon will rise at 8:52 PM BST on Sunday, April 13, after awarding at 7:53 pm

Looking towards the future, the next full moon will be the moon of the flowers on May 12, 2025. There are a total of 12 moons full in 2025, including three supermas and two total lunar eclipses, with a visible in Karachi from September 7 to 8.
