Prince William is reportedly planning to strip his brother Prince Harry and sister-in-law Meghan Markle of royal titles using the model of Prince Andrew, having recently abandoned his royal privileges amid an alleged association with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
According to a report by radaronlineDuring the royal family’s summer stay at Balmoralthe, the future king is said to have discussed the move with King Charles following Andrew’s statement about renouncing his titles and honours.
One royal said: “From the outside, Balmoral looked like the usual royal getaway – walks, barbecues and cozy family meals. But privately, important conversations were taking place. William is convinced the monarchy cannot evolve while Harry and Meghan still have titles.”
“What happened with Andrew showed him that it was time for a final break. The King’s decision basically handed him the playbook.”
It is pertinent to mention that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from royal duties in 2020, but the couple kept their royal titles and continued to use them.
For William, it is now about “safeguarding the future of the monarchy.”
A second source said: William “really respects how his father handled Andrew; it was difficult but it was the right decision, and it showed that no one, regardless of their status, is above the Crown. He feels the same principle should apply to Harry and Meghan. It’s not about revenge, it’s about preservation.”
