- Xbox app has been ported to Windows 11 PC with Arm CPU
- This is another step forward in improving gaming on Arm laptops, following recent moves to tighten gaming compatibility.
- Microsoft notes that: “Today, more than 85% of the Game Pass catalog is compatible with these PCs.”
Microsoft has announced that the Xbox app is now available on Windows 11 PCs with Arm processors, that is, on laptops like Copilot+ built with Snapdragon X silicon.
In a blog post, Microsoft noted that: “Players can now download and enjoy a wide range of titles from the Xbox app for PC game catalog on Arm-based Windows 11 PCs. Today, more than 85% of the Game Pass catalog is compatible with these PCs.”
The firm also said that it is working with developers to make more games compatible with Arm, and that for those titles that cannot run on these devices with Windows 11, there is always another option: streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The Xbox app offers a central hub for all your games, acting as a game launcher and linking social aspects, as well as facilitating cloud gaming, as noted, along with other cool tricks (like cross-platform saving for your Xbox and PC).
Analysis: Big things could happen for Windows on Arm in 2026
This is certainly a useful step for Windows gamers who have an Arm PC, and it’s one of the few steps Microsoft has taken to improve Snapdragon X laptops on the gaming front.
That includes support for quite a few more PC games, with the notable addition of titles that use AVX or AVX2 extensions, which Prism, Microsoft’s emulation layer for running x86 (AMD and Intel) games on Arm processors, gained the ability to address in the October 2025 update for Windows 11.
On top of that, we saw Epic fine-tune fortnite to run on PC Arm, making the game’s anti-cheat (EAC) tool compatible. This has long been a hurdle for gaming with an Arm processor. Hopefully, other game developers who use EAC to keep cheaters at bay will do the same. (This includes titles like Elden Ring).
The Xbox app migration to Arm PC comes at an interesting time, as we are about to see new Snapdragon X2 laptops introduced in the near future. On top of that, it is rumored that laptops with the Nvidia N1X processor could debut in the coming months. It’s another Arm chip and has some very powerful integrated graphics. With this in mind, 2026 could be a very promising year for Windows on Arm devices.
