Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance were seen at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, at the San Siro on Friday night.
The Milan Cortina Olympic Games were officially opened with a ceremony celebrating the country’s history and culture. The vice president and Usha Vance were seated near Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry was introduced at the stadium. Also sitting near them was former IOC President Thomas Bach.

The NBC broadcast briefly showed the Vances applauding Mattarella and Coventry.
Vance was among those who led the American contingent to the Olympics in Italy this year. He was seen with Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the United States women’s ice hockey game against the Czech Republic on Thursday. The Americans won the match 5-1.
It was part of a busy journey for Vance.

On Friday, he started his day at the Milano Ice Skating Arena, watching the opening session of the three-day team figure skating competition with Rubio and his family. He then headed to the Prefettura di Milano for a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“In the spirit of friendship and competition of the Olympic Games, rules-based competition, and just coming together around shared values, we are very, very excited to be here and we will have a great conversation on various topics,” Vance told Meloni as the press looked on.

He said he had been excited about going to the Milan Olympics “pretty much since I took over as vice president.”
