WNBA has never been as popular as it is today, which may be a good time for the League.

The collective bargaining agreement of the League with the players union expires on October 31, 2025, leaving possible work strike on the table.

The National Association of Basketball Players (WNBPA) opted not to participate in the agreement last year, saying that at that time it was looking for “a business model that reflects the true value (of the players), which covers the highest wages, the improved professional working conditions, the extended health benefits and crucial investments necessary for long -term growth.”

Without an agreement instead, the director of the WNBPA, Terri Jackson, said the players will negotiate “whenever necessary” to obtain fair treatment.

“There is no better time than at this time for women’s sports and particularly for female basketball and particularly for us. So are we taking all levels? Absolutely,” Jackson said recently, through the New York Post.

“We have been aggressive in terms of our discussions, our proposals, plural, and our meetings calendar. It is a group project. We have made our part, and we hope that the League will see the opportunity to have such really valid milestones, such as working towards significant progress. It is not just a significant phrase, a significant progress for the points in the middle of the way and work towards the end of October 31.

“Certainly, we cannot go so far from last season and this season then start going back. That will not be accessible,” Jackson added. “I don’t think anyone in the League or team team wants that.”

In March, Angel Reese admitted that players could be “sitting” … “if they don’t give us what we want.”

Like Jackson, Reese also said that players are “prepared to stay at the negotiating table during the time that is necessary.”

Reese signed a four -year rookie contract and $ 324,383 before her first WNBA season in 2024. She won less than $ 75,000 in her first year and will win less than that in 2025.

In October, Reese said that he could not afford to pay his bills based on that salary in a live Instagram video.

Last season, the WNBA had its regular season more seen in 24 years and its greatest assistance in 22. More than 2.3 million people attended the WNBA games in 2024, a 48% increase in 2023.
