A woman trying to steal gold from a jewelry store in Banni area of Rawalpindi was caught on CCTV.
The woman, posing as a customer, stole a gold necklace worth over Rs 550,000 by subtly hiding it in her lap while pretending to organize other items in the jewelery box, Express News reported.
CCTV footage revealed his quick actions, prompting the shopkeeper to file a complaint. Police used technology and human intelligence to track the suspect, identified as Sadaf. They arrested her and recovered the stolen necklace.
The footage showed Sadaf distracting the jeweler by rearranging the items, giving him a moment to put the necklace in his pocket without anyone noticing. His deceptive maneuver, however, was fully captured by the store’s surveillance cameras.
Authorities have confirmed the arrest and recovery.
