When it comes to understanding your health and fitness, a smart scale can be a useful weapon in your arsenal. Right now, our pick for the best smart scale is the Xiaomi Mi Body Composition Scale 2, but smart home company Wyze hopes to take it down with its latest effort.
That product is Wyze Scale Ultra BodyScan. This set of scales features “professional-grade body composition analysis,” Wyze says, and is at the top end of its range of smart body scales, along with others like the Withings Body Scan.
The big addition this time is a built-in handle that connects to the scale via an extendable cable (something it shares with the Body Scan). It comes equipped with a set of electrodes that pair with the electrodes on the scale itself (making eight in total), and together they are used to measure your well-being across a variety of metrics. This allows for more accurate data collection than simply measuring foot inputs.
Wyze says the handle provides “deeper segmental information and more accurate personalized results” by allowing the scale to measure your arms, legs, and torso individually. Instead of getting a general idea of your health, you’ll get a more nuanced picture.
High-end health
Once all that data has been collected and quantified, you’ll be able to view your health insights using the scale’s 4.3-inch color screen.
The device brings together 13 different wellness metrics, including weight, body fat percentage, heart rate, lean body mass, and more. Continuous trends can also be found if you want to see how you are doing over time.
And since the product comes with Bluetooth, you can sync all that data to your phone or other connected device and see it there, if you want. It’s compatible with popular fitness apps like Apple Health and Google Fit, and Wyze will also send you a PDF report of your latest health metrics for easy consumption.
Wyze has priced the Scale Ultra BodyScan at $119.98 (around £90/AU$185), which is significantly more than its other scales, including the $49.98 Scale Ultra and the $38.98 Scale X.
