The Kansas City Chiefs were only three plays in their first game of the 2025 season in Brazil when they lost one of Patrick Mahomes’ key offensive weapons.
The open receiver Xavier Worthy was discarded by the rest of the game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a shoulder injury, and the friendly fire is what took it out.
Worthy was running a short route on the third Down, like the closed wing Travis Kelce, when they collided with each other. Worthy got the worst when Kelce’s largest frame crashed into her shoulder.

Worthy had immediate pain on the grass and could be seen in the lateral line of the chiefs hanging her right shoulder down and grimace. The coaches seemed to be pushing against him, and some speculated that he dislocated.

In the playoffs, Worthy’s role increased, leading the team with 287 yards and 19 receptions in its three games. He also scored three times, including one in the 40-22 defeat against the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
