- Xbox has canceled Everwild, perfect darkand an unnoticed game of Zenimax
- Perfect dark developer, the initiative has also been closed
- Dismissals have occurred in several studies
Microsoft has once again made significant cuts to its game division, since Xbox cancels a handful of games, closes a study and performs another round of mass layoffs.
As reported by Bloomberg, Xbox has closed the study of the initiative and subsequently canceled the next Perfect dark reboot. Queer Always It has also been canceled, as well as an online title not announced since The Elder Scrolls Online Zenimax developer online Studios.
Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, has told Xbox staff in an email that the cuts “reflect a broader effort to adjust the priorities and focus resources to establish our equipment for greater success within a panorama of the changing industry.”
To facilitate these adjustments, Xbox has fired staff in several of their studies. These include zenimax, Candy Crush King creator, Obligations Studios Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games support, Forza Motorsport Turn 10 Studios and Halo Studios developer who is responsible for the broadest Halo franchise.
In total, 9,000 staff members have been affected by cuts. In May 2025, Microsoft also cut an estimated 6,000 to 7,000 employees of its workforce, which means that the company has potentially allowed around 15,000 employees to enter only this year, a terribly high number.
Nor is it the first time that Xbox chooses to close complete studies. Last year, the company closed Arkane Austin, as well as alpha dog games, Roundhouse games and perhaps the most controversial, tango games games. Fortunately, the Rush of Hi-Fi and The evil inside The developer could be relocated under the editor of South Korea Krafton, but not all studies were so lucky.
