If part of the Xbox Insider program on Xbox Series X | S, you may have thrown yourself in the proof of a new feature known as games hubs.
As reported by VGC, the game centers are appearing for experts when choosing a game to launch. The play centers are exclusive to the game you choose to play, and appear as a kind of board before launching the game.
The hub shows information, including the total game time and the achievements won for each individual game. There are also eyelashes for fast access to DLC purchases and any capture of captures that you have captured.
According to VGC, some centers, such as Disney Dreamlight Valley – You can also show a section of ‘events’ that will detail the next events of the game or current. Presumably, such sections will appear in popular live services titles such as Monster Hunter Wilds either Fortnite.
At present, the feature is only available for a select number of Xbox experts, and it is not yet known whether it will be extended or launched to the broader Xbox users base.
Personally, it is a characteristic about which I have found feelings. It is certainly useful to have a unique board for each game: PS5 games have a similar design on the start board.
However, I believe that the implementation of PS5 is less intrusive, since all this information is presented without opening a separate menu. Nor am I a great admirer of having a good part of the game panel of the game center dedicated to the display of downloadable content.
Apparently, this will be a game by game, of course, and the play centers seem predetermined to the ‘Play’ button without exception. So, at least you can still jump directly to a game when they are implemented.
And with the way the Xbox board is designed, this was probably the best way to add a feature without doing a total user interface review. For now, I will reserve the trial until I can try the play centers for me.
But I cannot shake the feeling that it will be a characteristic that I will want to disable quite quickly.
