- XREAL Detailed Project Aura in AWE 2025
- It will have a massive field of vision of 70 degrees
- It will also join a spatial computing disc with Android XR
While we suspect that Android XR would be a key component of Google I/O 2025, we could not have predicted to some of the partners that Google announced that it would be working, which includes device manufacturers at the top of our best list of smart glasses: Xreal.
As promised by Xreal in I/O, he has taken the stage Aummented World Expo 2025 in Long Beach California to provide us with new details about the aura glasses of his project, and is emerging as an impressive device.
For me, the most important detail is that the device apparently has a 70 degree field of vision, which is absolutely huge.
The 50 -degree field of vision of the Xreal has already felt large, and the Xreal One Pro of 57 degrees is a more notable step in terms of size (you must wait a little more for our complete review). 70 degrees will be massive.
The update of the vision field suggests: Xreal has not yet confirmed this, that the Aura specifications will borrow the new optical engine of Xreal One Pro (and perhaps even will update it more), including its flat prism lenses, since one of its key advantages is that it allows a larger FOV.
This optical system also comes with other updates, which could help the Android XR glasses much easier to use all day while walking.
Another interesting fact is that these specifications, such as the other Xreal glasses, are tied, which means that they are fed by an external device to which they are connected through a cable.
We already knew that Aura would not be independent, but Xreal has revealed that the new shipment of computer devices with Aura will not only be its standard telephone or Xreal Beam Pro.
It is something completely new, which Android XR executes, and fed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, which seems to be doing all Android XR processors.
However, Xreal is not abandoning his own chipset. Aura itself will wear an improved x1s chip that is a “modified version of X1 with even more power under the hood.” The X1 chipset is what is within the XReal One and Xreal One Pro specifications.
Xreal has not yet confirmed whether you will sell the disc and glasses separately, but if you do, I will be interested in seeing what that decision means for your approach to improve its technology in the future.
At this time you can pick up a couple of XREAL glasses and a dock space computer as a package, and then update one or both over time. The newest glasses offer better images and audio if that is their main concern, while the new Beam Pro offers improved processing and spatial characteristics.
This is a less wasteful and generally more affordable design philosophy, since it only needs to replace the only component that stops it. However, as I mentioned, Xreal has not yet confirmed whether he will sell the album and glasses separately. Its current writing project aura “a solution composed of the XR glasses with cable and a dedicated computer device” that suggests that they could also be a complete and not updated package.
As for a launch date, Xreal still maintains us mainly in the dark, although he has said that Project Aura will arrive in 2026, so we hope we do not wait too long.
Xreal A professional dead upon arrival?
After this announcement, some fans are beginning to wonder if their purchase of Xreal One Pro was a good idea: if they had waited more or less and could have hooked an Xreal Android XR configuration.
I will grant that for some professional buyers of Xreal One that they hope it may have been the best approach, but I think others can rest more easily, since, although the aura and a professional will probably share similarities, I suspect that they will be very different devices.
For a beginning, while Xreal glasses are often at their best with the Beam Pro complement, it is not necessary. You can use the specifications with a range of USB-C compatible devices, and even many HDMI devices with the right cables.
Based on Xreal descriptions so far, Project Aura is not just a portable exhibition for entertainment; It is a complete space computing pack with all the ingenious characteristics of Android XR that has been shown.
This will not only mean that Aura’s purpose is different from the other Xreal glasses; I hope its price is also very different.
At this time, an Xreal Beam Pro and Xreal One Pro would cost $ 848 / £ 768 (before taking into account any package or discounts for limited time). So it seems that it will be greatly improved hardware, I imagine that Project Aura will cost more 1,000 / £ 1,000, if not more.
And remember, you can buy the XReal one, separately for only $ 649 / £ 579.
Better Tech is always on the horizon at a given time, but this (for now) does not seem to be a repetition of the fiasco meta Quest Pro / Meta Quest 3, which saw the last launch of products far superior to less than half of the price of the first.
Instead, Project Aura seems to be more a diagonal change, with a new hardware with better specifications and a different purpose.
If you want to wait for the project aura, you must, since you can also be tempted by any of the various Android XR, Meta Smart Graes and New Snap Spectacles that will be launched in the next year more or less. But choosing not to wait, it is not a bad option: the Xreal One Pro will certainly not be dead upon arrival, since some could fear.
