The New York Yankees entered the game 1 of their Wild Card series of the American League against the Red Boston Sox with local field advantage and a desire to return to the World Series.
But their hopes faded on Tuesday night thanks to the star of the Red Medias Garrett crochet and the clutch blow of Masataka Yoshida and Alex Bregman. Boston won the game, 3-1, and took an early advantage in the series.

The research organization wrote in X that the Yankees were the “first team in the history of the MLB postseason in having the bases loaded with anyone in the lower part of the novena, but not scoring a race and losing the game.”
“We have been playing very at stake, apparently every day,” said the Yankees manager Aaron Boone, through MLB.com. “Tonight was a great baseball game in which we could not get that final blow. We will be ready to go, and I hope we go out and get one (in game 2).”
