OpenAI, the developer behind ChatGPT, has released a major update to ChatGPT, and the best and most notable part is the integration of ChatGPT’s popular voice feature directly into the chat interface.
What’s new in the latest ChatGPT update?
In the new ChatGPT update, users can now talk, listen and view conversations, all while chatting with the AI chatbot, eliminating the need to switch between separate modes.
This update combines spoken responses with real-time visual elements such as images, graphs, map cards, and interactive widgets.
As the AI responds audibly, it makes conversations more contextual and easier to follow as text appears alongside these images.
ChatGPT users can scroll through the entire transcript, allowing them to review previous messages without interrupting the spoken conversation.
The updated version also offers flexible input options to allow users to type responses when speaking is not possible, while still receiving an audio response.
ChatGPT’s in-chat voice feature is designed for practical tasks. For example, users can:
- Stay hands-free while cooking and you can hear and see the measurements.
- Practice a new language with words spelled as they are spoken.
- Analyze complex topics, such as graphics or code, with visual aids along with spoken responses.
Availability and configuration
This recent ChatGPT update is rolling out globally to the ChatGPT mobile app and website.
The company has included a switch in Settings to return to classic mode for those who prefer the original voice-only experience.
The GPT maker stated that it will continue to refine the integrated voice experience to ensure more immersive and versatile AI interactions for everyday users.
