Young doctors threaten to strike

The Association of Young Doctors (YDA) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter has warned about Boicot throughout the province if the provincial government does not improve the working conditions of medical graduates and increases their salaries.

When heading to a presierman, the president of YDA KP, Dr. Hafez Orakzai, highlighted several problems, including the lack of basic facilities in the main hospitals, the defective health card system and the increase in the professional tax on doctors from 30 to 80 percent.

He also noted that the Public Service Commission has not made doctors recruitment during the last six years, and doctors based on merit are being ignored in favor of those with political connections.

Dr. Hafiz demanded that the work wages of the camera, the wages of the doctors be increased and the appropriate promotions will be ensured.

He also requested that professional people be included in the Board of Governors and that internal shelters are established in medical universities to provide accommodation for doctors. In addition, he demanded that the Chamber officers be paid and provided with specialization spaces.

The president of Yda paid tribute to the dedication of doctors during pandemic, earthquakes and floods COVID-19, but lamented that they are not being recognized or rewarded.

He requested that doctors who lost their lives during the pandemic received the Shaheed package, and COVID-19 funds will be used for their planned purpose.

Dr. Hafiz warned that if his demands are not fulfilled, the YDA will be forced to close all hospitals in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and continue his protest until the Minister of Health renounces.

He urged the Government to release funds for doctors and meet their demands to avoid confrontation.
