Young people encouraged to reach the links

More children are reaching the links.

According to the National Golf Foundation, 3.7 million young people, from 6 to 17 years old, played golf in a field in 2024, an increase of about 50 percent of five years before.

One of the greats of all time, Annika Sörestam, is behind a new effort to help more young people to practice sport. Sörestam has associated with Bank of America for an initiative called “Golf with Us”.

“This initiative is close to my heart because it is a way to help grow the golf game, and we will do it by giving young children the opportunity to make golf more affordable. Therefore, when registering and obtaining (ting) … an annual membership, you have the opportunity to play thousands of courses for five dollars or less. Then, with the hope that, when they have access, they get the opportunity to try and then fall with the sport of sports.

And Sörestam says that golf is not just about competing in the field. “If you are a golfer, you need so much patience and, as you know, when you are in the world or simply life in general, patience is really important,” he says.

Sörestam also points out the discipline, approach and determination, the qualities that, according to her, are needed both in golf and in life outside of sport.
