- A new pixel clock function has been seen
- Automatically locked your phone if your watch was disconnected
- We are not sure when the function can be launched
The code seen in the last Pixel Watch application for Android suggests that there is a new feature on the way for Google Pixel Watch 3 and old models: the ability that your phone is automatically blocked when it is out of reach of your smart watch.
Android Authority team found this code, and although it has not yet been enabled, and it is not yet known when it could be, the function would be a useful security update if it combines a pixel clock with an Android smartphone.
The idea is that if someone slides your phone without you knowing it, or if you should leave your phone without realizing it, you would be sure that your phone would be blocked automatically.
According to the newly discovered code, this characteristic could be called ‘blocking in disconnection’ or something. With a small adjustment, a user has managed to make the configuration appear in its Pixel Watch application.
This is not something that any other laptop currently offers at this time, including the best Apple watches, although, of course, it can remotely block an Android phone at any time using the Find My Device service from Google.
Without an official announcement about this characteristic, it is difficult to predict when we could see it exhausted. Nothing was said at the recent Google I/O 2025 conference, but Google tends to implement software updates throughout the year.
Presumably, once the function is launched for pixel watch devices, it could be pushed to the code to use. That would allow portable devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra to take advantage of it.
What you can do with your Pixel clock is to use it to unlock your smartphone: so if the clock is close, you do not need to continue unlocking your phone. This would be an additional useful function to add to that, once it finally unfolds.
