- Signify has launched a firmware update for Philips Hue Play Sync Box 8k
- The update will particularly benefit the owners of PS5 and PS5 Pro
- It also adds “perfect” compatibility for 3D content
If you have a Philips Play play configuration at home, there is good news: a new software update is being implemented for its synchronization box, and is full of characteristics and corrections to improve your multimedia experience.
As Hueblog.com explains, firmware version 2.5.0 makes several changes that should be music for the ears of the players. For example, the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K now works with the compression of the screen transmission (DSC), which allows resolutions from 8K to 60Hz for PS5 Pro.
In its version notes, Signify (the company behind Philips Hue) also promises the change of optimized entry source, which should reduce latency if you are using a PS5 connected to a LG TV.
The 3D content can now also be enrupted through the 8K synchronization box, with a promising “perfect compatibility” in case it still clings to its Blu-Rays 3D 2011 collection.
Patch
Signify has also solved an error that caused “problems with the functionality of ignition/disabled of CEC and Auto OFF after 20 minutes” when the HDMI cable of the synchronization box was connected to the second output of an AV receptor.
Automatic light synchronization now works correctly when the box is also used in this configuration.
There is also a new firmware for Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 4K. This makes the “corrections and general improvements of errors”, although Signify has not provided more specific details. Both updates are being implemented now, and should receive the new firmware in the next few days (if it has not yet done so).
