Signs of progress?
YouTube just started working again for me on the mobile app and website, and that seems to be the case for many others, according to Downdetector.
There has been a big drop in reports in the US, with numbers falling to around 227,000 – still huge, but a far cry from the peak about 30 minutes ago. Let’s hope it continues in the same direction…
General panic takes over
YouTube’s outage is causing disbelief online, with many noting how strange this is.
Of course, speculation abounds about the possible cause, and Downdetector shows spikes for AWS and Cloudflare, but they’re not notable and it’s still too early to tell.
I still get a blank screen on the website and mobile app…
‘Something went wrong’
This is the very unusual error message that many are seeing right now when trying to watch YouTube on the mobile app, and it’s affecting the web version as well.
The world’s favorite video site is still struggling almost an hour after the problems began. There’s no official cause for the issues yet and there’s nothing on Google’s status page, but this appears to be more than a brief blip…
A large increase in reports
If you’re struggling with YouTube and YouTube TV right now, you’re definitely not alone: there’s been a huge increase of over 317,000 reports in the US and 38,000 in the UK.
The outage appears to be affecting both the website and the mobile app for many, with the latter displaying a “something went wrong” message. In the US, YouTube TV is also down, with more than 8,000 reports for the service, making it one of Google’s biggest outages in some time.
