- YouTube finally goes native on Apple Vision Pro
- No more clunky Safari workarounds
- Vision Pro entertainment line gets stronger
Apple Vision Pro has become an entertainment powerhouse, but it’s always been missing one important app: YouTube. That changes today.
Google’s ever-popular video platform arrives as a native app in visionOS for Apple Vision Pro, and is available in the App Store right now as a free download.
Basically, YouTube is catching up. Most of the top streaming services have offered native experiences on the platform since its launch, complete with immersive environments designed specifically for visionOS. But YouTube, the largest video platform on the Internet, was not among them.
The solution was to open the classic web version of YouTube in Safari. It worked, but it was never perfect. Meanwhile, services like Disney+, HBO Max, and Paramount+ have fully embraced Vision Pro, offering personalized environments that let you immerse yourself even further, whether watching Frozen in a Disney theater, watching Larry David finish Curb your enthusiasm in a world inspired by game of Thronesor looking spongebob in Bikini Bottom.
For a headset that excels at displaying a huge, super-high-resolution screen wherever you are, YouTube always felt like a missing piece. Now, it’s finally part of the experience.
It is a free app on Vision Pro that brings a personalized YouTube experience to the platform. That means you can have the app as a floating window in your space or immerse yourself in a personalized movie theater to watch all your favorite videos, whether it’s the TechRadar channel or any of your favorite creators. For me, that means Bruce Springsteen and a collection of fan-recorded videos, as well as tours of Disney parks.
Once you download the app, open it, and log in, it’s essentially the classic YouTube experience within visionOS. That means you’ll be able to find the videos you like, the channels you subscribe to, and all your playlists. Additionally, all videos playable on YouTube can be viewed on Vision Pro, including long and short videos in various resolutions, as well as 3D, 360, and VR180 videos.
While we’ve seen custom environments from other streaming services, it’s unclear if YouTube will introduce its own. However, at launch, it looks like you can use Theater’s native immersive view, as well as other built-in Apple environments.

Even without a custom background, the arrival of YouTube on visionOS is still an important step. Not only is it about accessing thousands of videos, but it also eliminates a previously annoying solution. YouTube is the Internet’s default video platform and it’s significant to see it arrive here.
It’s also notable that YouTube is coming to the Vision Pro after being available at launch on the Android XR platform, including Samsung’s Galaxy XR headphones.
So far in 2026, Apple and its partners have been steadily pushing the content you can consume on the Vision Pro. We’ve seen the first NBA games streamed on Spatial Video, a preview of the arrival of F1 in some form, more content created for the Vision Pro, and now the arrival of YouTube.
This could even be a precursor to hopefully more interesting news at WWDC 2026, expected in June.
