The NFL teams faced during training camp practices is relatively common. The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the three teams that have decided not to celebrate joint practices this year.

The Bengals coach Zac Taylor, believes that there is a better way to prepare his players for the season. The coach prefers to see some of his projected headlines, and even star players, take representatives in the preseason games.

The Field Marshal of the Pro Bowl, Joe Burrow and the star receptors, J’mar Chase and Tee Higgins played in the first preseason game of the Bengals against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. Taylor argued that IntraSquad competition is more beneficial than joint practices.

“I am grateful that this year we are not doing that (joint practice),” Taylor told journalists. “It is really good for us to continue placing some installation things and adjust some things, instead of enclosing the opponent X that you know we will spend three days preparing and practicing and reviewing.”

“We can simply spend that on ourselves. And I think that is really necessary at this time for this group. That is the way this camp hit us this year without practices against anyone else, just focusing on (ourselves). I am excited.”

Taylor said it will be another important week for the offensive line competition of the Bengals. Lucas Patrick and Cody Ford have competed in the right guard position, and the Bengals have been mixing different second unit offensive linens throughout the summer.

“(Es) Very open,” Taylor said. “I think nothing is in stone at this time. There are still many opportunities. There are eight true practices and two games, so we are going to use each of them to obtain all the information we can of it.”

The Bengals open the regular September 7 season against the Cleveland Browns.
