The renowned Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik visited former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, at his residence in Raiwind.
During the meeting in the heritage of the Sharif family, according to reports, the scholar and the PML-N leaders discussed several issues.
However, no official statement on the details of the conversation has been published.
Last week, former Pakistan Cricket player Mohammad Hafeez has caused controversy after meeting Dr. Zakir Naik.
Hafeez shared images of his meeting on social networks, which caused generalized criticism. Hafeez published: “He will meet with Zakir Naik”, along with images of them together, including one in a restaurant.

The publication met strong online reactions, and many questioned their decision to meet Naik.
A user of social networks wrote “This is one of the reasons why the Indian Cricket team and the Indian government do not want to come to Pakistan.”

Most criticism come from Indian nationals. Dr. Naik is currently sought by the Indian authorities for charges of alleged money laundering and inciting extremism.
The controversy also revived the discussions about the refusal of India to play in Pakistan for the champion trophy of the ICC 2025.
