Matter Labs, the developer firm behind the Layer-2 Zksync network, presented on Tuesday at the conference without permissions its new “cryptographic” Airbender “.
A Prover is a key component for CAPA-2, since it generates zero knowledge tests that are then published in the base layer block chain (in this case Ethereum), a crucial process to link the two chains and guarantee their safety.
The Zksync team states that Airbender is the fastest of its type, delivering Ethereum block tests in 35 seconds with a single GPU, surpassing its competitors reference points.
Having fast speeds can save on transaction rates: “We are entering a fraction of a Cent territory that is fundamental for key use cases, including micropagues, high frequency and social decentralized trade,” said Alex Gluchowski, co -founder of Matter Labs, in an interview with Coindeesk. “Faster tests unlock a faster purpose, cheaper applications and, crucially, tests that can be generated anywhere, not only in mass farms of GPU.”
The new prover, which is a virtual zero knowledge machine of open origin (ZKVM), is based on RISC-V, a newer programming frame than the Ethereum co-founder, Vitalik Butein, has suggested replacing the current EVM, because it will make the block chain more efficient.
“We started building Zksync Airbender over a year ago because we saw where Ethereum was to go, and what ZK applications eventually demand,” said Gluchowski. “Vitalik’s recent publication was a great statement of our plans, but this path has been moving for a while.”
While Airbender is still early in its implementation, Matter Labs has launched an application that allows developers to test the new prover. If everything agrees with the Plan and the governance process of Zksync approves it, Airbender will be included in a protocol update at the end of this summer, according to Gluchowski.
“Zksync Airbender demonstrates the Ethereum blocks in 35 seconds using a single GPU. That is the beginning of something innovative: Cruzada chain applications in real time in real time and ZK that can be verified on the fly. This is the basis of an internet of verifiable and interconnected chains,” said Glouchowksi.
