- Windows 10 has a new update for August
- Carries the offer of extended support until October 2026 to all
- Microsoft has also solved an error that caused the registration process to be blocked
The latest Windows 10 update is important in terms of the imminent end of life for the operating system, since it implements the extended support offer (beyond October 2025) to all users, and solves an error that meant that some people could not successfully register for said offer.
Windows last noticed that the August update for Windows 10 (known as KB5063709) provides the extended security updates option (ESU) for all.
Some people (a minority) have already had the offer of ESU, which appears in the Windows update panel, with an earlier update, but the KB5063709 patch takes it to all PCs with Windows 10 before the deadline of October to finish the ending completion.
However, for some of those who have already seen the ESU option, which shoots an registration assistant that facilitates registration, there was a frustrating error that meant that the process did not work.
As Windows last, that assistant was blocked (either immediately or half the process) for some Windows 10 users, leaving them quite baffled on how they were going to classify their extended support.
However, they tell us that Microsoft has solved this problem with the August update, just in time for the broader launch of the ESU.
ANALYSIS: Repaired assistant
Then, if he previously tried to register to obtain extended support using the ESU assistant in Windows Update, but he was blocked, whether without responding or bombing completely, try again after installing this new patch for Windows 10, and they should be fine, the crossed fingers.
And if you have never seen ESU’s offer and wondered where I was on Earth, then they consult at Windows Update after applying the August update. You should see the extended support offer on the right side of the Windows update panel.
To remind you, there are some options on how you can register in the ESU program, one of which is to pay $ 30 for the additional year of support that subsidizes (until October 2026). If you prefer to obtain extended support for free, you can do it using another option, that is, synchronize the configuration of your PC to OneDrive (not your files, note, only the configuration). A third option is to spend 1,000 Microsoft rewards points, if you have so many.
It is also worth remembering that you will need a Microsoft account to register in the ESU program.
