New England patriots Chief coach Mike Vratabel apparently received his birthday blows after trying to break a fight during the team’s joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday.

The chief coach, who turned 50 on Thursday, was captured in a video that was beaten to the ground after he threw himself in the middle of a fight in the field in an attempt to break it.

That quickly became a pile of players, and Vrabel was not far away.

When the people’s scrum moved in the field, Vrababe was momentarily knocked down in the process. The fight was quickly established and there were no reported injuries.

Speaking to the media earlier on the day, Vrabel apparently offered an explanation for the tense nature of joint practices.

“These practices are like a game, we have said it. There are ups and downs. We hit some plays. They hit some plays.”

However, Thursday’s practice was not the first time that Vrabel had been involved in a practice fight. Earlier this month, during a joint practice with the Washington commanders, Vratabel intervened to try to break another fight.

ESPN reported At that time, Vrababe left with a bloody cheek.
