- A Mac Pro is rumored again for the launch at the end of this year.
- It will come with an ultra M4 based on tracks extracted from Apple’s internal code
- M4 Uitra could work with a 32 -core CPU and a GPU of 80 cores in theory
The next iteration of the Mac Pro could see Apple feed the computer with an ultra chip, we have heard again.
They have spent a couple of years since the last incarnation of the Mac Pro, which used the Ultra M2, so it would be a considerable leap in the performance update to an ultra theoretical M4, but Macworld reports that this is what is on the cards.
This is based on Apple’s internal code that MacWorld saw a look in some way, which contained the ‘T8152’ identifier, and tell us that this suggests the use of the ultra M4, with the name in code ‘Hidra’ (a name that was previously issued in the rumor factory through Bloomberg).
There is not much more in this rumor, and MacWorld has no detail about the specification, although theorizes that the Ultra M4 could execute with a 32 -core CPU and an 80 -core GPU.
As always with this type of escape, it could be genuine and, nevertheless, never get to fruition. It can show us that Apple has been testing a Mac Pro configuration in this regard, but it is possible that this machine will never see daylight, ending canned at some point in the creation of prototypes.
Analysis: M4 or wait m5?
This leak tells us a couple of things. First, that Apple’s staff cannot spell ‘Hydra’ (well, well, alternatively, let’s say that Apple engineers cannot think of decent code names). And, seriously, that it seems more and more likely that a new Mac Pro design will launch later this year.
In fact, the Mac Pro that will later come out in 2025, complete with M4 Ultra, was suggested more than a year ago, so this last pepita of speculation supports the anterior buzz in the vine.
In addition to the weight of the rumors that begin to add, there is also the fact that for Apple, the Mac Pro is in a kind of strange situation at this time. This is because the M4 pro flexes some considerable performance muscles and exceeds M2 ultra of Mac Pro. The result is that you can buy a MAC Mini (with M4 Pro) and obtain a better performance, at least in terms of unprocessed CPU power, that the MAC Pro, which is not a good look for the very expensive computer.
It is not that the Mac Pro is competing with Apple Mac Mini, of course, it is a heavyweight pro-direct PC that offers many advantages in terms of important memory load and PCIE expansion options. In fact, it is a very different beast, but still, Apple needs to keep the Mac Pro on a reasonable basis in terms of relative performance, which means that the rumored update with an ultra M4 seems more likely.
A two -year -old gap also seems like a fairly fair time frame for an update, and I think Apple would like to wait until the M5 series before expelling a new Mac Pro given the above reasons.
That said, there are those who have argued that the Ultra M4 will not happen, due to the problems around two Max Max chips, which is what the chips ultra do, and that Apple will really expect it so that the M5 series does another ultra model.
So, everything is in the air for now, but if an ultra M4 is going to happen, it will surely be in a new Mac Pro, and we are likely to see more leaks soon enough. If the whispers are silent during the next months, that will tell their own history.
