PM presses for the digital economy without effective


Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Sunday that the government was prioritizing efforts to digitize the economy and change all transactions to a system without cash.

I was presiding over a review meeting on the economy without effective and digital in the Federal Capital.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction with progress towards an economy without cash and ordered the main secretaries to completely support the federal government to expand the RAST system to district governments.

The meeting was informed about the progress of measures to promote an economy without cash.

The participants of the meeting were informed that digital IDs will be created under the digital public infrastructure of Pakistan, which integrate national identity cards of citizens, biometry and mobile numbers to allow digital payments.

They were told that provincial governments had achieved significant progress in the linking of public payments to government and government to the Rast system.

In digital infrastructure, the capital development authority has granted the right of step for fiber connectivity, while conversations are ongoing with Pakistan Railways and the National Highway Authority.

Federal Minister of Finance and Income Muhammad Aurengzeb, Federal Minister of Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Chema, Federal Minister of Information and Radiodifusion Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaj Rilleways Bilalal Ash Kayani and senior government officials attended the meeting.
