It seems that we will see a battle of the super thin smartphones this year, since not long ago, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was launched with 5.8 mm thick, and we hope that the air of the iPhone 17 will continue very soon, a phone that could be even thinner.
The tipsters have not yet decided exactly how thick Apple’s phone will be, with several sources that place it between 5.0 mm and 6.0 mm. But most recent leaks place it somewhere in the middle of those figures, with 5.44 mm, 5.5 mm and 5.65 mm presented by separate sources.
If the iPhone 17 air enters any of those rumored thicknesses, it will be thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge, and although a difference of approximately 0.15 mm – 0.35 mm might not seem much, a leaked photo suggests the difference of thickness between these two phones could be really remarkable.

Shared by @theonecid, the photos above show a Samsung Galaxy S25 edge along with what is presumably a fictitious unit of iPhone 17 Air, and can see that the latter looks much thinner.
That said, it also seems that the iPhone 17 Air chamber lens could stay a little further than Samsung’s, so at the widest point, it may not be much more thin. Even so, for more torque, the air of the iPhone 17 is impressively thin here.
Coming with commitments
Of course, there are inevitably commitments on having such a thin phone, and the largest is rumored that it is only a chamber lens on the back. The Galaxy S25 Edge has two, and the standard The iPhone 17 is expected to also have two.
Beyond that, it is also likely that the iPhone 17 air has a small battery, so it is possible that you should sacrifice a lot if you choose Apple’s thinner phone.
