- EMDOOR EM-959-NM16ASH-1 RYZEN AI MAX CHIP promises a strong work seasonal power
- Showing the update of up to 180Hz seems excessive for the needs of the workstation, leaning towards the territory of the games
- A 2.45 kilograms, this laptop feel more like a desktop replacement than a mobile workstation
Emdoor, a company that has maintained a low profile since 2023, is now launching another system that calls a “high -end PC workstation with next -generation AI Chip.”
The device, listed in the “EM-959-NM16ASH-1” code, comes with the Ryzen Ai Max de AMD processors, also known as Strix Halo.
The EMDOOR EM-959-NM16ASH-1 presents memory LPDDDR5X-8000 welded on a 256-bit bus, giving a high bandwidth but avoiding updates.
A work station or game laptop?
Although the memory is limited to a maximum of 128 GB in the purchase, the storage is more flexible with two PCIE 4.0 × 4 m.2 slots that support up to 8TB.
The screen is a 16 -inch panel at 2560×1600 resolution, with 165Hz or 180Hz update options.
These specifications can attract users looking for a portable video editing computer, but also blur the line between the work station and the hardware of the games.
This impression is reinforced by the names of filtered internal archives linked to design, which included the term “games”.
At 2.45 kg, the system is heavier than many of its rivals, with people like XN77-160-CS of Sixunited and HP ultra G1a zbook that weighs less than 1.8 kg.
Although the most voluminous construction may have been chosen to handle the thermal design of 45-120 W of Strix Halo, this weight can be acceptable only for a stationary workstation, since buyers looking for a commercial laptop may not find this attractive design.
It also includes a 99WH battery that is stated that it lasts eight hours, but without independent evidence, such claims are still promises.
The cooling is handled by a double fan configuration together with triple heat pipes and a quadruple system.
The company markets this system as a workstation, but aesthetics, update rates and name history suggest game roots.
Since Emdoor acts as an original design manufacturer, the same model could easily appear under another marketed brand as a game system.
If this laptop becomes a reliable tool for professionals or fades in the dark, as some of the past projects of the company have, it will only be clear once it reaches the market and arises the feedback of the real world.
Currently, only a limited number of PC have the Strix Halo chip, with examples that include the ASUS Rog Flow Z13 (13.4 ″), the HP Zbook ultra 14 g1a and a handful of others.
In terms of prices, these devices cost more than $ 2,000, and taking into account the specifications of the EMDOOR EM-959-NM16ASH-1, it will probably cost more.
