The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued on Wednesday a travel advice that urges citizens and tourists to avoid visiting parts of Gilgit-Baltist (GB) due to hazardous climatic conditions, continuous flooding and greater risks of landslides and road closures, Pakistan’s associated press reported.
The advice, published by the National Center for Emergency Operations (NEOC), warned that multiple paths in the northern region have been severely damaged by persistent rain and glacial activity. He highlighted GB as particularly vulnerable, advising travelers to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary movement in affected areas.
According to the NDMA, the Shykk river bridge near Saltoro has been blocked by landslides, cutting access along the route. The Astak bridge on the Jaglot-Skardu road has also been partially damaged, restricting traffic to the unidirectional movement.

The traffic has also resumed on the Gulmit -gojal road in Hunza, the Jaglot -Gilgit road through Guro and Chilam Road in Astore after the liquidation work.
The NDMA continues to monitor the situation and has advised the public to stay updated through official channels before making any trip to the region.
