The Chicago Bears can have Caleb Williams as the future in Quarterback, but the dedication of their support, Tyson Bagent, led the general manager Ryan Poles to give him an extension of the contract of two years and $ 10 million.
That decision led to tears during his press conference on Wednesday.
Of course, this is not a record contract, but with a maximum value of $ 16 million, including incentives, Bagent could not contain how he felt when he earned such a large sum of money.

“Many people don’t know this, but my dad is my man to the right,” Bagent told journalists while cleaning the tears. “I did not have running water until high school, so there are definitely many people with whom I can certainly help with this gift with which I have been blessed. It is certainly a weight of my family’s shoulders and shoulders.”
The 25 -year -old was a free -recruited free agent from Shepherd, a University of Division II, in 2023. He made his way through the depth table of the Bears during the training camp that year, and won the backing role behind Justin Fields.

When Fields fell with an injury that year, Bagent began four games and won the first for Chicago. It became the first field marshal of Division II not recruited in starting in a game since 1950.
Bagent was 2-2 during that period, but when the Bears had the first general selection in the NFL draft last year, it was clear where the posts and the entire organization were going with him.

Williams was recruited from USC to be her hopeful franchise field, but Bagent once shone in the training camp to maintain her backup role.
However, entering this season was a different animal because a new sheriff, or rather, a new chief coach, was in Chicago.
Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator of Detroit’s lions, accepted the position of the chief coach. Then, Bagent had to demonstrate his value in this year’s training field to solidify his role behind Williams.
Not only did he achieve the mission, but their ethics and work production have clearly impressed the organization.

During the 38-0 preseason defeat of the Buffalo Bills Bears last weekend, Bagent took Chicago to three consecutive score units after Williams delivered a strong departure under the center. Bagent was 13 of 22 for 196 yards with a passenger touchdown in the victory.
Bagent knows that he must be ready at any time if Williams cannot fulfill his duties as a field marshal during the 2025 season. But for now, the young man is grateful that his hard work has literally worth it.
