PTI alleges the kidnapping of Imran Khan’s nephew in Lahore’s raid

LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) alleged Thursday that men with simple clothes assaulted the residence of Lahore de Aleema Khan, sister of former prime minister Imran Khan, and kidnapped his son, Shahrez Khan, in what the opposition party described as an act of intimidation little ascending.

According to PTI leaders, the raid occurred on Wednesday night when a group of unidentified individuals entered the house of Aleem Khan. The party officials said that the home personnel were attacked, the members of the harassed family and Shahrez were taken from their room in front of their children.

The PTI Central Information Department issued a statement by calling the episode “the sosite of the matrix and oppression”, adding that “even domestic workers were subjected to brutal violence.”

Rana Mudassar Umar, PTI’s lawyer, told the media that Shahrez had no political affiliations and did not face registered cases. The game alleged that the incident occurred only one day after Shahrez was prevented from traveling abroad with his wife, when he was arrested at Lahore airport and “illegally unloading” from a flight. PTI leaders said that the moment of the two episodes demonstrated a deliberate campaign of harassment aimed at Imran Khan’s relatives.

PTI Senior figures condemned the incident in strong terms. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister Ali Amin Gandapur described the alleged kidnapping as “despicable” and demanded Shahrez’s safe return. The former opposition leader in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, also condemned the incident, writing on social networks that “such cowardly acts show that Imran Khan, their family members and PTI activists cannot be defeated.”

The official PTI account in X, previously Twitter, claimed that the raid was ordered at the highest levels of government. The statement accused Mohsin Naqvi and the ruling coalition of political sales, accusing that “families are now being destroyed in lust by power.” The party also demanded that the president of the Supreme Court of Pakistan intervene and order Shahrez’s immediate release.

The reported raid was produced only a few hours after the Supreme Court granted the bail to the founder of PTI Imran Khan in eight cases linked to the violent protests of May 9, 2023. A three -member bank led by the president of the Supreme Court Yahya Aphridi ruled that the observations made during the bail procedures were internal and they should not prejudice the results of the results. PTI leaders said that the moment of the raid suggested an attempt to counteract the political relief granted to Khan earlier in the day.

PTI highlighted his achievements as the best Ironman Athlete in Pakistan, and pointed out that he is only the second paquistani triathlete to qualify for the World Championship. The party insisted that it had no participation in political activities and that it was being attacked only for its family ties.

Accusations further inflamed political tensions when Imran Khan remains in jail for a series of cases, despite Thursday’s bail decisions. His party has accused the government of systematically attacking Khan’s relatives and supporters in an effort to dismantle PTI’s political base before future elections.

When the calls mounted for the launch of Shahrez, PTI warned that the continuous suppression of political dissent could trigger generalized public disturbances. “If immediate measures are not taken, the anger of the people will become uncontrollable,” said the party’s statement.
