- The Windows 11 co -pilot application has just received an update for the testers
- This introduces a powerful and powerful natural language -based search
- There are also some useful changes for the application home page.
The Windows 11 co -driver application is obtaining a deeper and more powerful search functionality, and more also, although this is only in the tests for now.
The Verge reports that Microsoft is implementing an update for the Copilot application to Windows Insiders (those that run Windows 11 test versions) that have co -pilot+ PC.
These devices have the NPU necessary to boost this new search for AI, which allows you to use natural language in consultations, and will submerge in files to find results for you.
Then, as Microsoft points out, you can request a conversation consultation such as ‘Find the file with the Tiramisu recipe’ and the Co -Cázar application will hunt through the files on your PC to locate it. Or similarly, you can ask ‘find photos of my dog on the beach’ and the AI will choose those images specifically. Microsoft calls this functionality a ‘semantic files’.
Microsoft is also bringing a Rejigged Home page for the Copilot application that the surface recently used files, applications and conversations, a movement designed to make it easier for what I was doing before.
You can also click those recently used files to consult them with Co -Philot, or choose to get help with applications through a specific ‘guided help’ panel: this triggers a co -ilot vision session to guide it through said application.
Evaluators who wish to give the new Copilot application must obtain the latest Microsoft Store update on Windows 11.
ANALYSIS: END GAME
His immediate concern here can be privacy, and Microsoft has rushed to relieve any fear in that sense in its blog post that introduces these changes. The company makes it clear that Copilot appears in recently used files simply through the standard ‘recent’ folder that Windows 11 maintains, so the AI application is not deepening in its system more deeply than the records that the operating system remains to itself.
Microsoft clarifies that: “The co -pilot does not scan his entire system or loads anything automatically.” However, when you directly consult a file with Co -Philot, in that case it is loaded for processing, but “nothing is shared unless you do it explicitly.”
As for the semantic file search capacity, I suppose it works similar to the AI supercargo of the search for Windows 11 in co -pilot+ PCs (when Microsoft introduced natural language consultations through the search box in the taskbar).
Apparently, Microsoft wants to reinforce the search with AI in all areas, and thus with co -pilot+ PCs we have that search for windows 11 on, as well as remember (a search for the based on screenshots that take advantage of the activity on its PC), and now a search for improved natural language within the co -pilot application itself.
What is the final game with Pushing AI in the search with such force? Well, the search is a case of obvious use for AI, and specular that eventually, Copilot will completely assume all Windows search tasks.
In other words, there will not be a basic Windows search, if you want to find things on your PC, you will ask Copilot, End of Story. And I hope you complete the search without showing you 15 ‘suggestions’ or ‘Recommendations’ related to what more might need to complete any task that IA creates that you are carrying out.
