Islamabad:
On Saturday of the Pakistan Bar Association (PBC) on Saturday, the recent increase in judicial fees, describing it as an attack on the fundamental right of the poor to access justice.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Executive Committee of PBC chaired by Muhammad Yasin Azad. The Council expressed a deep concern for amendments to the rules of the Supreme Court 2025, firmly opposing the increase in judicial fees and demanding their immediate retirement.
According to a statement, the PBC said that the Government had not been able to trust the Council before introducing the increase in rates. He announced that a conference of all parties (APC) would be convened in Islamabad on September 27, gathering representatives of political parties and bar associations to discuss the issue.
The PBC also condemned a raid by the CTD in the residence of ancient justice (retd) Zahoor Ahmed Shahwani, qualifying a violation of the Constitution, law and civil freedoms, as carried out without a search warrant.
The Council also denounced the murder of lawyer Mian As As As Kakakhel.
