The depth of the field marshal of the Raiders of Los Vegas received a blow on Saturday when Aidan O’Connell broke his wrist against the Arizona cardinals in the last preseason game of the team team.

O’Connell was expected to be the support of the veteran field marshal Geno Smith, who arrived at the Raiders in the low season through the exchange with the Seattle Seahawks. Smith met with Chief coach Pete Carroll.

O’Connell left the game in the second quarter and did not return. It had 3 of 4 passes for 36 yards before the injury.

“His wrist fractured, he’s injured, it’s going to spend time,” Carroll said. “That is a great blow to us.”

Las Vegas selected O’Connell in the fourth round of the NFL 2023 draft out of Purdue. He received 17 openings in 20 appearances for Las Vegas since then. The situation of Mariscal de Campo de los Raiders had been in disorder for a while because the injuries and players left.

Derek Carr was the titular field marshal in 2022, but the two separated and signed with the New Orleans Saints before the start of the 2023 season. O’Connell, Jimmy Garoppolo, Brian Hoyer, Gardner Minshew and Desmond Ridder have started the games in the Quarterback since Carr left.

Carroll played Smith and Cam Miller during the team’s preseason game against the cardinals. He said it was too early to know if Miller will be placed in the place of QB2 for the 2025 season.
