- Some key details of the folding iPhone have been leaked
- Wait four cameras, two colors and touch identification
- We will probably see the telephone launch in 2026
At this point, it seems almost certain that Apple will bring a folding iPhone in September 2026, and we only get some more details about what to expect from an Apple typter that is generally more reliable than most.
That typter is Mark Gurman in Bloomberg, who says that the folding Apple phone will use Touch ID instead of ID in face. While all current iPhones now use Face ID, thought is that the required sensors would add too much thickness to the folding.
Therefore, Apple will go with Touch ID to keep the device as thin as possible, says Gurman, and there will be no Sim card slot for the same reason: this will be just Esim. The previous leaks have predicted that the phone will have a thickness of 4.8 mm when it is developed, compared to the 4.2 mm of the Samsung Galaxy Z fold 7 recently released.
This last report also establishes that we will obtain four cameras on the folding iPhone: one on the outer screen, one on the interior screen and two on the back (which will be 48mp cameras, according to an earlier rumor).
Crying
If you believe in previous reports, one of the reasons why a folding iPhone has taken so long is because Apple is very interested in making the screen fold as invisible as possible, and it seems that the company now has a screen settings with which it is happy.
According to Gurman, the folding iPhone will use what is known as the touch screen in the cell, with an integrated screen and an layer of digitizer. That would make screen technology similar to what we have in current iPhone models, ensuring a “less obvious” fold and improving the precision of touch.
Other things of the report: The folding iPhone will be available in black or white, and will include the Apple modem C2 Modem itself that is expected to debut on the iPhone 17 (and that should lead to better efficiency and battery life).
Gurman says that the folding iPhone will be a “change of play” for Apple, and its belief is that anyone who makes the change to a folding iPhone will not want to return. First, however, we get the launch of the iPhone 17 this year next month.
