AJK lawyers seek CJ representation in judicial policy body

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association (AJK SCBA) visited Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi in Islamabad and discussed exchange to foster cooperation between AJK higher judiciary and Pakistan, in addition to other key legal and administrative matters.

According to a press release issued by AJK SCBA on Saturday, the delegation made suggestions for the representation of the Chief Justice of AJK in the National Judicial Policy Committee, implementation of the 2 percent quota allocated to AJK citizens in federal judicial institutions and the organization of specialized training programs. for lawyers and judicial officials.

On this occasion, the AJK SCBA announced the organization of a judicial conference in AJK by inviting the Chief Justice of Pakistan as the chief guest for the conference which will aim to deliberate on the legal dimensions of the Kashmir issue and related political issues, according to the press release. .

“The Chief Justice of Pakistan appreciated the points raised by the delegation and assured immediate action on matters within the ambit of judiciary. He pledged to ensure representation of the AJK High Court in the National Judicial Policy Committee as per the MoU of 2013 and confirmed his participation in the judicial process conference,” he added.

“Furthermore, the Chief Justice emphasized the need for professional training for lawyers, ordering the provision of modern training facilities and free access to online legal resources to enhance their skills. He also approved the representation of AJK lawyers under the Supreme Court Internship Program and underlined the importance of involving lawyers in decision-making forums to ensure effective implementation of policy decisions to improve the justice system,” the AJK SCBA statement concluded.
