The government of Pakistan generated funds by trading carbon credits in the international market to improve a major irrigation project in Sindh, President Asif Ali Zardari said, according to a press release issued by the press wing of the Secretariat on Saturday. of the President.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Sukkur campus of Dr Ziauddin Hospital, Sukkur, the President promised to continue the Bhutto family’s legacy of public service to improve the socio-economic well-being of the nation.
In his speech, the President highlighted that the Rohri canal was being lined since its inception and Rs 15 billion would be spent annually in this regard. “Funds generated by trading carbon credits in the international market are being utilized for lining of the Rohri Canal project,” he said.
Zardari called the inauguration of a state-of-the-art hospital a transformative moment for Sukkur. He said the facility would provide quality healthcare services to the people of Sukkur and its surrounding areas.
Zardari mentioned his personal involvement in encouraging the management of Ziauddin Hospital to invest in Sukkur. He highlighted the need for these types of initiatives to improve health care standards in underserved areas. He said he had donated his personal land for the Dr Ziauddin Hospital campus in Hyderabad.
Zardari highlighted the importance of the university campus, where medical students could pursue higher studies. “The Sindh Government will bear the expenses of setting up a university at the Sukkur campus of Ziauddin Hospital,” he announced.
The President emphasized that providing the public with world-class healthcare facilities was the top priority and reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the people of Pakistan have access to quality healthcare.
President Zardari commended Dr. Asim Hussain and the management of Ziauddin Hospital for their efforts in establishing a facility equipped with cutting-edge technology and staffed by a team of highly qualified professionals. “The hospital is an example of Dr Asim Hussain and his family’s unwavering commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the people,” he said.
