Bugti seeks consensus on the NFC award

QUETTA:

Baluchistan’s Prime Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, presided on Monday an advisory meeting to review the preparations for the next award of the National Finance Commission (NFC), emphasizing equity, inclusion and consensus in the process.

The provincial finance minister, Mir Shoaib Noshherwani, reported the session on the province’s financial position and urgent priorities. The prime minister said that consultations would be carried out with all political parties and experts in issues, including those outside Parliament, to build a unified position for Baluchistan.

Bugti said the NFC award must recognize the unique challenges of the province and guarantee the transparent distribution of resources. He described the prize as an opportunity to strengthen federal harmony and promote national solidarity.

“The aspirations of the people of Baluchistan should be reflected in the prize,” he said, adding that the contributions of economists and intellectuals would also guide the case of the province.

The main minister expressed the hope that a fair part of resources will accelerate development and prosperity throughout Baluchistan. He concluded that the true success of all interested parties was in a stronger federation and that the NFC award should become a means of national confidence and unity.
