Russia is considering prohibiting Google meeting as part of a broader repression against foreign technology, according to Moscow’s times information.
Roskomnadzor, the Russian federal agency responsible for the country’s media, has already banned voice and video calls through WhatsApp and Telegram, and the country is ready to expand even more restrictions.
With users looking for alternatives, Google Meet quickly became one of the most popular alternatives, one that Roskomnadzor is now also looking to ban.
Russia prohibits Google from being
Google met recently with generalized interruptions, with more than 2,000 individual reports complaining of frozen calls, missing videos/audio and unexpected stops, however, Roskomnadzor has publicly denied any participation.

Industry analysts expect an imminent prohibition of Google Meet that is linked to the promotion of Russia of Max, an application backed by the state that will be pre -installed on all new smartphones from September, according to the Wechat of China.
Max, which is still in a test phase, has already accumulated around 18 million users.
