- Onenote for Windows 10 loses support at the same time as the operating system
- The new OneNote application in Windows replaces it with new functions
- Users can update using the migration tape in the application
Microsoft has warned users that its OneNote notes is configured to lose support for Windows 10 machines on October 14, 2025, and with this reference point comes an important software update.
From that deadline, Microsoft Onenote will be an only reading application, which means that the notes can be seen but not edited or synchronized.
No more updates, error corrections or online security patches with Windows 10 that also loses support on October 14 will be provided.
Onenote will not be compatible on Windows 10 since October 2025
“As we continue to invest in a safer, modern and capable notes experience, we are consolidating our efforts in a single, more powerful one -note application in Windows,” Bola Soney wrote in a blog post that announces the news.
By rationalizing Onenote, Microsoft promises a faster delivery of new features, long -term support and a “basis for future innovation in Onenote”.
To move from the classic Windows 10 version of OneNote to the new One -Note application in Windows, users must synchronize their notes and then use the migration tape in the application to ‘move to the most recent version of Onenote’.
The new application can be downloaded from the Microsoft store for free, but users must log in with work, school or personal accounts to unlock it.
The blog publication also details specific processes for business and educational clients.
Looking to the future, the Microsoft roadmap has many tickets for OneNote, including a large amount of co -senses based on a summary, questions and answers, voice tools, image support and videos and general audio description.
The change of Onenote is only part of a broader change that occurs as Windows 10 leaves space for Windows 11. At the beginning of June 2025, the adoption of Windows 11 finally updated Windows 10 (through Statcounter), before overcoming it a month later.
Soneye concluded by urging OneNote users to migrate now instead of leaving it until the last minute to avoid interruptions.
