- Leica M11-V could be the most affordable series M model so far
- New leak claims will have 64 GB of internal storage and a 60MP full frame sensor
- Electronic opinion set to replace the iconic telemeter
A new leak may have revealed the interesting characteristics that we can expect from the next Leica M11-V, and apparently it has also confirmed that it will be the first model of the M series of the legendary manufacturer without the iconic engine component.
Leica Rumors has published what appears to be a marketing information page about the rumored camera that, if genuine, admits previous statements that the M11-V would replace a television station with an electronic viewfinder.
It is likely that this is a controversial decision among Leica’s fans, potentially the most vocal, dedicated and stubborn fans base of the world of the camera. After all, the “Messucher” (the German word for a combined television and viewer) is what gives the series its name.
I have already written an opinion article, preventing the loss of the telemeter, but looking at this recent filtration has left me much happier on the M11-V launch, because it seems to be the most affordable M series model of Leica so far.
A view to a more cheaper series?
The mechanism of the telemeter is the most expensive component in a Leica M camera, so replacing it with an electronic viewfinder will largely reduce production costs.
Add the fact that the filtration says that the camera will offer only 64 GB of built-in memory (the existing M11-P Leica, compared, has a storage of 256 GB), and it seems that we are seeing a leica ‘Loica’ Leica ‘of entry level’.
The leak says that the EVF of the M11-V Leica will have 5.7MP resolution and 0.5 inches of size, with an increase of 0.76x and Diopter compensation.
He also mentions a new FN button for viewfinder control (probably to select different frame sizes through the digital zoom), a “purist” design (clean lines, due to the lack of a Rangefinder window), the master image processor III and a full -frame BSI sensor of 60MP, the same configuration of main images such as the one in the Leica M11 standard.
The escape also establishes that the M11-V will be manufactured in Germany, do not worry about Leica Outsourcing Production fans to the Far East to save money.
The decision to drop the ransfinder in the Leica M11-V will not be universally popular, but if it places the M series within the range of more consumers, ultimately, it can be wise.
Of course, many will affirm that it is not a real camera of the M series without that sixteenth, but I am anxious to discover for myself how this camera feels.
